At the heart of Collette Marie’s artistic practice is the weaving of her life experiences, her identity as a Xicana woman of Indigenous descent, and her home in the Chihuahuan Desert. The subjects of her visual narratives are imbued with a suprahuman mythos. Her deeply cherished connection with her culture and the natural world is strongly reflected throughout her various bodies of work, which invite the viewer to experience with reverence and joy.
